Timeless evolution

Kartell is an Italian design company that makes contemporary furniture. It is headquartered in Noviglio, in the Metropolitan City of Milan. It was founded in 1949 by Giulio Castelli and Anna Castelli Ferrieri, whose designs made the brand well-known worldwide.

Kartell started by producing accessories and only few years later began its furniture production. The brand attracted an international audience as a consequence of being featured in an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (Moma), in New York during 1972. Kartell, lately opened its first U.S. store in 1998. Nowadays its products are sold by more than 150 retailers in the USA.

Kartell vision aims to combine functionality with aesthetics, creating products that not only serve a purpose but also inspire. The majority of the Kartell’s furniture is produced out of polycarbonate. The company, in fact, can be considered a pioneer in the use of this material, in the interior design world.

One of the most iconic designs is the minimal chair “La Marie”, presented in the year 2000 at the “Salone del mobile”.
